TriZetto confirms that 3.4M people’s health and personal information was stolen in the breach

Healthcare technology giant TriZetto has confirmed that more than 3.4 million people’s personal and health information was stolen in a 2024 cyberattack, which the company failed to detect for nearly a year.

A technology company, for multinational conglomerate Cognizantthey serve about 200 million people of 875,000 health care providers in the US, according to its website. Doctors’ offices and health care providers use TriZetto to evaluate patients’ health insurance policies.

TriZetto said The complaint is the attorney general of Maine Friday that hackers stole official patient insurance reports from the company’s servers.

The data includes personal information such as patients’ names, dates of birth, home addresses, Social Security numbers, and their medical information, such as provider names, demographics, health and insurance.

TriZetto said it discovered the breach on October 2, 2025, but later discovered that the hackers had access since November 2024.

A Cognizant spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment, including why it took the company a year to discover the breach.

Several organizations have confirmed that their patient information was compromised in a cyberattack. One of these is OCHINa non-profit consulting firm that provides health care expertise to approximately 300 rural and regional service providers in the United States. Other health care providers throughout California have confirmed the same.

According to TriZetto, not every customer was affected by the breach.
