Lawrence and the Jaguars are looking for a direct path to winning the division: either beat the Titans or lose to the Houston Texans to the Indianapolis Colts.

Their path to the division title and first-round playoff bye is a bit complicated: The Jaguars need a win while also losing to the Denver Broncos and New England Patriots.

If one of those teams loses and the Jaguars win, Jacksonville will retain the No. 2 seed.

If all three teams win, Jacksonville will receive the No. 3 seed.

If the Jaguars lose and the Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Chargers, Texans and Patriots all win, the Jaguars could drop all the way to seventh in the AFC.

Needless to say, Sunday’s win made things less complicated for the Jaguars.

“It’s just one game,” Lawrence told reporters on Wednesday, Dec. 31. “We’re here. So far, we’re not here. … We had to win all these games to get to this point to continue to control the division and keep it in our hands, and that’s what we did. It doesn’t get any bigger than that. We’re here this week to win the division.”

The Jaguars are on a seven-game winning streak, including a 25-3 victory over the Titans in Nashville on Nov. 30, thanks in part to Lawrence’s late play.

During the winning streak, Lawrence threw for 1,754 yards and 16 touchdowns, including five touchdowns on Dec. 14 against the New York Jets.

He added five rushing touchdowns during that span.

“There are a lot of factors,” Lawrence said. “The team up front did a great job. … Whether it was outside or inside, I was able to have escape routes and a lot of lanes for me to run and extend the game, so that was a big part of it.”
