“Her smile was contagious,” the statement read Facebook Saturday. “Her courage and determination were unparalleled. Her loyalty and honor were unwavering.”

The statement continued, “I have had the privilege of watching her grow from an awkward college sophomore to a young woman ready to take on the world as a law student. She is brilliant, driven, and intellectually fearless. One thing about Rizi is — she loves debate. She thrives on apologetics and theological discourse, and I think that’s part of why we are so close. She loves truth and is not afraid to fight it.”

He concluded his remarks by noting that it had been a “long day” and that he had “little sleep.”

“It pains me to be honest. I’m still processing it. But even in the pain, I can rest in peace: Riziki is now forever safe,” he wrote. “No more worrying. No more fighting. No more taking on something that wasn’t hers. Just peace.”
