‘This is a gravely dangerous moment’

UN humanitarian chief Tom Fletcher warned that the war in Iran and the wider region was having a “huge impact” on civilians, describing it as a “very, very dangerous time”.

He also expressed concern about the “secondary effects” of the violence, saying the conflict had the potential to exacerbate extremism and polarization in the Middle East and beyond.

“We have to step back from the brink now,” he told the BBC’s Laura Kuenssberg.
