Amazon is developing a new user interface for its Fire TV device, designed to focus on content, while also supporting navigation. The update, which is available initially to Fire TV owners in the US, represents the biggest redesign of the Fire TV in years.
The changes come after an explosion of streaming content has made it difficult to know what’s available to watch on which service, requiring streaming platforms like Fire TV to act as a discovery platform rather than a tool for launching shows.
The company the first envisioned a new design at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January, showing off a design to make the Fire TV smaller. The updated design features rounded corners, different gradients, consistent typography, and increased spacing between content, and adds more space for printed apps.

Previously, Fire TV users could only place six apps on the home screen. Now, with smaller program icons, this update expands up to 20 program slots, services such as Netflix, Disney +, YouTube, Prime Video, Hulu, HBO Max, and other leading brands.
In addition, the control panel at the top of the screen has been changed to categories with simple icons, including Movies, TV, Live TV, Sports, and News. A search button is also available on the left side of the Home tab.

In these tabs, Fire TV displays what you’re already watching and shows other recommendations from the content you’ve subscribed to, organized in rows labeled “About You.” These tabs also highlight free movies to watch, premium movies and TV shows, and paid content that you can enjoy.
The Live TV tab, meanwhile, centers the information available on your social media, including broadcasts or TV channels, if you subscribe or use an antenna.

The less frequently used ones are located under the three “hamburger” lines on the left, and include Games, Arts & Photos, Appstore, Music Video & Audio, a global list called “My Stuff,” Favorites, and other options.
The Amazon AI assistant Alexa + has also been developed in a new form, allowing users to ask questions about any topic, not just movies and TV. Questions can be asked using natural language, and Fire TV owners can edit them or ask follow-up questions while interacting with the AI assistant. AI can also interact with web content. For example, you can select a video tile and say, “Tell me more about it.” You can also ask questions like, “Find me more videos that have similar features.”

Amazon has been announced recently that Alexa + is available to customers who subscribe to Prime as an integrated feature. Some may choose to pay for access separately.
The new user interface will be launched first on Fire TV Stick 4K Plus, Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2nd Gen), and Fire TV Omni Mini-LED Series in the U.S. Early this year, it will spread to more countries and devices, including the latest generation of players and Fire TV 4K TVs such as Fire TV 2-Series, Fire TV 4-Series, as well as TVs made by Q TVs, and LED TVs made by TV Omni, and TVs made by TVs Omni. Insignia, Panasonic, and TCL.
These changes are also available on new versions Amazon Ember Artlinea new series of TV animations that will make your TV screen look like a cartoon when it’s not in use.
