Instagram is increasing its size Instagram for a TV show to Google TV devices in the US, two months after Amazon Fire TV in December. The app was originally launched as a way to expand Reels viewing beyond mobile, and now users can also view their Instagram posts directly on their TVs.
By bringing reels to TV, Instagram is looking to better compete with YouTube, which It dominates the TV space. Instagram probably wants viewers to switch to its TV app while watching content on the couch, just like they do on TV. TikTok competition it also has a TV show.
The new program is personalized for each user, because it shows reels based on the content and creators who enjoy the Instagram app. Reels are organized into channels and categories based on topics such as comedy, music, and lifestyle.
The reels play automatically, which means you don’t have to move to watch the next video. The Instagram TV app lets you like, view comments, and even share Reels.
Users can sync the app with their Instagram app and add up to five accounts in one home. Or, they can choose to create a new account to watch TV.
