A Florida middle school teacher has been arrested after he was accused of dating a student’s mother to gain access to the 13-year-old girl.
Daniel le Levre The Oviedo Police Department confirmed that he is accused of raping the teenager, the daughter of a woman he previously dated, which began around October 2023 and ended in January 2024. US Weekly.
Oviedo police said Le Lievre, 41, went to great lengths to gain access to the teen, including changing her schedule at Tuskawilla Middle School to get her into his classroom without her mother’s knowledge.
The victim went to police on Monday, March 30, claiming the teacher raped her. Lelivere was arrested at his home later that day and transported to the Seminole County Jail, where he remains in custody.
Le Lievre allegedly groomed the teen in the classroom before, during and after class, the arrest report states. Additionally, reports say he taught her how to use Morse code so the two could communicate secretly.
It’s unclear what method the two used to share secret information.
Detectives said the victim’s mother discovered Le Liev shared inappropriate moments with the teen, including multiple late-night phone calls with her daughter and holding her hand at Disney Springs.
Lelivere is also accused of opening a bank account in the teen’s name and depositing money into it.
After Lelivere and his mother broke up, detectives said he admitted to his daughter that he was only dating her mother to “get closer” to her.
The school district placed Leliere on administrative leave nearly two years ago after allegations surfaced that he had an inappropriate relationship with the teen. The school has no plans to rehire him, district officials added. Fox 10.
The school board also said that as the investigation into the allegations continues, the safety of students and staff is the district’s top priority, adding that any behavior that compromises the safety of those within the district will not be tolerated.
Le Lievre attended his first court hearing on Tuesday, March 31, where the judge decided not to grant bail.
It was unclear whether Le Lievre entered a plea or hired a lawyer as a result of his arrest.
