A Nebraska man is no longer teaching sixth graders in Palmyra this week because of his recent arrest on suspicion of sexual abuse by a school employee, US Weekly Confirmed.
Cody PesterThe 26-year-old was arrested on Monday, Jan. 26, and police said he turned himself in to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.
According to a police statement released on Tuesday, January 27, Pester allegedly sexually abused a former student whom he claimed to have met at a local sporting event.

Unfortunately for Pester, when he began communicating with the teen in May 2025, she was only 17 and soon to graduate from high school.

It was unclear whether Pester, who lives in Lincoln, had ever met the victim in this case in his class.
Reports of the alleged abuse were initially sent to the Department of Health and Human Services, detailing a “relationship” that may have involved the teacher and student.
Investigators began digging and eventually discovered more than 13,000 text messages sent between Pester and the teen, many of which were “sextings.”
Police later learned that Pester first raped the underage girl in July 2025.
Nebraska law prohibits any school employee from engaging in any form of sexual activity or having contact with a student who is enrolled at the employee’s school or who has been enrolled within the past three months.
Nebraska State Police said they are interested in speaking with any other victims Pester may have had or anyone who may have information relevant to their ongoing investigation. Those individuals can contact the Sheriff’s Office at (402) 441-6500.

Palmyra Sheriff Michael Hart A note was sent to parents at Pest’s address stating that the educator had been fired.
“The safety and well-being of our students remains our top priority,” Hart wrote in the letter. “Upon learning of these allegations, the district immediately relieved Pest from all classroom and extracurricular duties.”
Counseling and support services will be provided to all students at the high school, Hart said. He also encouraged district families to contact school administrators with any lingering concerns or questions.
“While this situation is deeply concerning, it is also important to remember that this is an active investigation and we must allow the legal process to continue,” Hart wrote in the letter.
Pest was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, January 28, but it was unclear as of press time whether he had been required to enter a plea.
