During an exclusive interview US Weekly, Hello dear Weighing in on the show’s ending — starting with her character Karen and her on-screen husband Ted (played by Joe Crist).
“Like any relationship that’s years long, there’s a lot that’s unsaid between two people. I think the show ends in the best way for everyone,” Buono joked. “Every great show, you can’t please everyone. But I do think the audience will be happy.”
Bono praises creators Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer Thanks to them for doing an “amazing job” to end the season “for everyone.” For the actress, filming the finale felt like a full-circle moment.

“I remember the read-through before we started[Season 5]we were together as a cast. It was a great moment. We started filming for a full year, which is really unheard of — especially in television. We all thought, ‘That’s going to be a long time.’ But I feel like the time flies by,” she noted. “For me, the last day of the show is the last day of filming.”
Bono recalled the day as “very emotional.” “Everyone was there, the family was there, and I was in the second-to-last position at the end of the show,” she told me us. “So, it was a really beautiful moment. Because in season one, I was on day one, scene one, shot. For me, it all came full circle at the end. It was just a matter of trying not to cry and saying my lines to get out of it.”
stranger thingsDebuted in 2016, Focus on a fictional town A series of supernatural events occur causing mystery and chaos. For the first four seasons, Buono had no idea what was going on in Hawkins, but he’s excited that Karen’s luck has changed in recent episodes.
“I just wanted Karen to get off the couch and join the fight. And that’s what they did,” she said of the scene in the first part where Karen fights the Demon King. “I loved how the Duffers handled this scene like filmmakers. Even though it’s funny, there’s a sense of seriousness. Emotion always drives the action. So what Karen is unleashing in this moment is not fighting, but telling the story and what she’s doing to protect her children.”
Season 5 Part 1 is over At the hospital with Karen. According to Bono, her character is “still alive” and hopes to join the action before the series ends. Season 5 also connects back to Stranger Things: The First Shadowa prequel drama touching on Hawkins in the 1960s When Karen was a teenager.
“There’s so much lore. The show goes in so many directions – from what happened before to where it’s going to go in the future. What we see in the show is a really interesting portrayal of Karen and Joyce and a lot of the characters. It’s always interesting to see how they’ve changed over the years,” she explained. “I’m curious, as the ’90s begin, what happens to Karen after all this and where she goes, especially after meeting The Devil. As she moves on with her life, that’s an interesting story to me.”
“Especially if she moves out of Hawkins when Holly goes to college, (perhaps) she decides to fulfill some unfulfilled dreams and maybe move to New York,” Bono concluded.
stranger things Volume 2 will return on Netflix on December 25th, and the finale will be released on December 31st.
