Skylight may have started as a digital photo app, but today, the company is focused on helping families stay organized with shared calendars, lists, meal planning tools and more.
At CES 2026, the company released a new product: Skylight Calendar 2, which offers a better look than the original 15-inch calendar, but smaller than the Calendar Max with 27 inches. Like the larger one, the new digital calendar and family planner also allow you to change the appearance of different colors to better match your decor.
The main selling point is not only digital images, but advanced software and AI capabilities. The main thing – the calendar – is to integrate all of your family’s calendars from whatever you use, whether it’s Google Calendar, iCal, Microsoft, or your kids’ sports apps, like TeamSnap.
The calendar has different colors so you can see everyone’s schedule at a glance, and it can also include “calendars” that are just emails with a few important dates or flyers sent home in junior’s bag. (Next is the AI part where you take a picture of the paper and update the calendar with new events).

The company is also trying to solve other household problems like managing menus, appointment reminders, meal planning, and finding recipes. Yes, it can also display your family photos, when not in use.
The app is well designed to be easy to read with easy navigation, colorful graphics, and graphics that make it easy for young children to use. For example, they can stop their homework by looking for a picture, even though they can’t read. Parents also love meal planning skills, whether it’s just saying that Tuesday is going to be taco night, or going out and finding a way to cook and making a grocery list. Skylight is also useful here, as it can provide you with a shopping list or add it to your Instacart app.
Another smart AI feature lets you take a picture of what’s in your fridge and get recipe suggestions based on what you have.

The need for such a system is well understood by customers. Skylight, a company that was bootstrapped and profitable from day one, now has more than 1.3 million families using its digital calendars to date, and probably more to come as new ships.
