Catherine O’Haraof schitt’s creek Co-stars are mourning the death of their former co-star.

O’Hara dies Friday, January 30, aged 71 years. O’Hara’s agency CAA shares by statement She “died at her home in Los Angeles after a brief illness.”
A spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department later confirmed US Weekly Paramedics were called to the actress’ Brentwood home at 4:48 a.m. Friday to provide medical assistance. O’Hara was taken to hospital with “serious injuries.” The official cause of death has not yet been announced.
O’Hara played Moira, the Rose family matriarch, on the beloved sitcom. The role is one of her most compelling performances to date. She stars alongside Dan, Eugene Levy and Anne Murphy Just like the rest of the Rose clan. The cast also includes Emily Hampshire, Chris Elliott, Jennifer Robertson, Noah Reed, Dustin Milligan etc.
Her portrayal of Moira won praise from fans and critical acclaim. O’Hara won the 2020 Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her performance in the show’s final season.
Before her death, O’Hara expressed interest in reuniting with her schitt’s creek family for one potential renaissance.
“I’d love to (do it). After the show, we did some touring, which was a lot of fun,” she said in a 2024 interview people.
O’Hara added that she was grateful for the opportunity to work with Dan, Eugene and Murphy again.
“I would love to be with them again,” she added. “It would be great to make a movie. Yeah, I hope it happens.”
O’Hara also expressed her gratitude to Dan and Eugene, who co-created the comedy, for giving her the opportunity to speak behind the scenes.
“It was such a gift to work with people that I could work with. They wrote great scripts and it was so fun and so lovely,” she recalled. “Honestly, I don’t want to say COVID has been good for anything, but we were really lucky that Netflix carried the show. And then a lot of families were sheltering in place, parents and adult children all under the same roof.”

After fifty years of working with O’Hara on various screen projects, this loss was Eugene Levy.
Eugene played O’Hara’s on-screen husband in the film O’Hara schitt’s creek, shared a statement and US Weekly January 30th.
“Words seem inadequate to express the loss I feel today. I had the privilege of knowing and working with the great Catherine O’Hara for over fifty years. From our beginnings on the Second City stage, to SCTV, to our films with Chris Guest, to our six glorious years schitt’s creek“I cherished our working relationship, but most of all our friendship. I will miss her,” said Eugene, 79. “My heart goes out to Bo, Matthew, Luke and the entire O’Hara family.” “
