Google is taking a step forward in physical AI by bringing a popular robotics program under its wing.
Alphabet-owned Intrinsic, which develops AI models and software designed to make robotics accessible, has joined Google, the company. he announced on Wednesday. Intrinsic will remain separate within Google but will work closely with Google DeepMind and will use Google’s Gemini AI models and cloud services.
Alphabet has declined to share details about funding or the purchase price.
Intrinsic “finished” in an independent Alphabet company in 2021 after five years of development within Alphabet’s X, the company’s moonshot research division. Other companies that have graduated from X include robotaxi company Waymo and drone delivery company Wing.
Wendy Tan White has served as Intrinsic’s CEO since its exit in 2021.
The company moved forward. A few months after he declared his independence. Intrinsic got Vicariousanother robotics software company, in April 2022. Although the purchase price was not disclosed, Vicarious raised about $250 million from VCs and tech big wigs like Jeff Bezos.

Despite this rapid growth, Intrinsic laid off 20% of its workforce in January 2023.
The company announced its first product, Flowstate, a few months later. Flowstate is a software platform creating robotic workflows a goal for developers who don’t have deep robotics skills – aligning with the company’s goal to make robotics accessible.
Since then, the company has improved the technology, improved its matching capabilities, and released its Intrinsic Vision AI model by the end of 2025.
Instrinsic declared a partnership with electronics manufacturer Foxconn in October 2025 which involves the two companies working together on an intelligent robot to revolutionize the way electricity is produced, with the aim of creating a fully electric machine.
Now, the company is working to achieve those goals in close collaboration with Google’s AI capabilities.
“Combined with Google’s amazing AI and infrastructure, we will unlock the promise of physical AI for many creative businesses and developers. This will transform production, from finance to service, and enable the creation of high-quality products,” Tan White wrote in the company’s post.
The move makes as much sense to Google as to many technology leaders, including Jensen Huang of Nvidia and Cristiano Amon of Qualcommsee physical AI as the next natural step in monetization and advancement of AI models and technology.
