Roberto Carlos: Brazil legend ‘recovering well’ in hospital after surgery


Brazil and Real Madrid legend Roberto Carlos is “recovering well” after undergoing what he described as a “preventative medical procedure”.

The 52-year-old former left-back informed fans of his condition via his Instagram page, which included a photo of him smiling from his hospital bed.

He also denied rumors that he had suffered a heart attack.

“I would like to clarify information that has been circulating recently,” he wrote.

“I recently underwent a preventive medical procedure that was planned in advance with my medical team. The procedure was successful and I am fine. I did not have a heart attack.

“I am recovering well and look forward to returning to full fitness and resuming my professional and personal commitments as soon as possible.

“I sincerely thank everyone for their support, concern and concern. I want to reassure everyone that there is no reason for concern.

“I sincerely thank all the medical teams who looked after me.”

Carlos made 527 appearances for Real Madrid, winning 4 La Liga titles and 3 Champions League titles, and won the World Cup with Brazil in 2002.

Known as a free-kick specialist, his other clubs include Palmeiras, Inter Milan, Fenerbahce and Corinthians.
