Reza Farrakhan Dropped a surprising bombshell sunset king Actors get a raise.
“The last thing they want is for actors to know their worth. They want to keep you in the dark and shower you with praise so you don’t ask for more money,” Reza, 52, recalls in his new book. Memoirs of a Gay Shah: My Story of Family, Fame and Becoming a Kingreleased on Tuesday, April 7. “There’s no gold statue moment. It’s a constant game of trying to control you no matter how popular you become.”
Reza, who Appeared on the show from 2012 to 2021recalls “investing” his own money to market himself and his lifestyle. He specifically recalled “buying Louboutins” to protect his image, and that his check allegedly did not “cover the price of the shoes.”
“Everything that was being produced at the time was terrible, and I felt like that paltry check would probably eat up a lot of the budget,” he continued. “In Season 1, I shot my confessional interview in a storage room. I’m not kidding. The photographer was doing my makeup for God’s sake. We didn’t have a legitimate makeup artist. She bought some makeup and took it with her. She would put it on for us before the shoot.”

Reza recalled that the cast came together to negotiate a raise when the offer for season three was “paltry.”
“I’m not going to lie. Four figures per episode,” he wrote. “Eventually, it all worked out. We agreed to a most-favored-nation contract and our pay per episode increased six to seven times what we were doing before. Our pay per episode went from four figures to five figures this season. So it was a nice bump up.”
Elsewhere in his memoir, Reza detailed tensions between cast members based on who “did more press” about the show, revealing that he pretended to be an anonymous producer early on, mocking them and trolling the cast toward the end of the show.
