Reunion Island volcano erupts, woman just steps away from lava

Tourists and locals gathered on the island of Reunion to watch lava flow from the volcano more than a month into its eruption.

On Sunday, lava from the Piton de la Fournaise volcano flowed into the Indian Ocean for the first time in 19 years.

The volcano began erupting on February 13, its second eruption this year. Two lava flows from the volcano have since caused damage by cutting off the national highway connecting the island’s south and east.
