Grey’s Anatomy After the Season 22 fall finale, fans are worried about some of their favorite characters — and they should continue to be When the hit ABC series returns.
During an exclusive interview US Weekly, Jason George Teased what will happen after the first half of the season, with Ben helping Joe (Camilla Luddington) during her premature emergency C-section.
“Ben and Joe have a special relationship. Ben is definitely concerned and that’s where we stop. I’ve had a lot of calls from friends who are fans of Joe and I’ve had some conversations,” he said of concerns about Luddington’s character. “I wouldn’t say relax at this point.”
Despite premiere’s fatal consequences, George says hit medical drama Will balance life and death situations and more light-hearted stories.
“The rest of the season is fun. The writers have done a great job introducing new interns and integrating them into the story. Some have been familiar for a minute, and some are learning,” he noted. “Some people find their place in the world and they grow in their lives. The interns are growing as they learn how to be doctors. Ben is doing both of those things at any given moment.”
George is excited to see how Ben will develop, adding, “It’s going to be interesting when you see Ben’s ability to adapt and overcome the fireman mentality. That’s going to play a role in the way he develops. It’s going to be interesting for any Ben fan. By the end of the season, it’s going to be a thumbs-up season.”
The actor originally played the role of Ben when he joins Grey’s Anatomy 2010. His fan-favorite character later moved to Station 19, returning in 2024 as a main cast member.

“I was a fan of the show before I came on the show. This is an incredible opportunity for an actor,” he shared. “I’m excited to see what it’s like. There’s no way I’m going to let the writers give us another (season’s shocking finale). Every time you try to game the system, they’re going to catch you. They’re like, ‘We’re going to keep knocking you down every time.’ And you come back for more.”
back Season 22 premieres in SeptemberGeorge was glad his character didn’t fall victim to the deadly explosion. Still, he didn’t have much time to enjoy Ben’s safety before worrying about the next possible cliffhanger.
“It’s both a blessing and a curse for characters to die on this show. The curse is the fact that as an actor, when you get a great job like this – and you really love everything about it – you just want to stay with the company as long as possible. But on the other hand, when there’s real stakes – when people can actually die – then the story gets better,” he noted. “Anything can be discussed on the show, which is one of the reasons it’s so great.”
