Pope Leo works hard to unveil plaque in Türkiye

Pope Leo XIV painstakingly unveiled a plaque during a visit to a church in Istanbul on Friday.

The pope was seen tugging at the troublesome cloth in the Cathedral of the Holy Spirit, trying to uncover a marble tablet commemorating his trip to Türkiye.

Church clergy and security guards joined the fray, but the white sheets hung stubbornly in the corner.

The pope arrived in Türkiye on Thursday and will travel to the Lebanese capital Beirut on Sunday.
