Pope Leo calls for peace in Christmas message

Pope Leo called for an end to conflicts around the world in his first Christmas address to a crowd in St. Peter’s Square.

He used the pope’s “City and World” address on Christmas Day to the faithful gathered in Vatican City to address conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, as well as in Thailand and Cambodia.

“Let us pray to God for justice, peace and stability in Lebanon, Palestine, Israel, and Syria,” he said.

This is his first “Urbi et Orbi” speech as pope since he was elected pope on May 8.
