Jelly Roll, who competed in WWE earlier this year, called Cena “the most legendary 17-year-old you’ve ever seen” in a tribute message. (Cena won a record-breaking 17th WWE World Championship at WrestleMania 41.)
“John Cena, the legend, never met 17. Thank you for all these years, man,” the 41-year-old musician told him. “Thank you for the inspiration. Thank you for being the role model we all need. You deserve it, brother. Congratulations and happy retirement.”
The West Newbury, Mass., native even received a special video from former New England Patriot Brady on Friday.
Brady, 48, told Cena. “Congratulations on an incredible career. You’ve impacted so many lives in and out of the ring. Good luck in your last fight. I hope you do better in yours than I did in mine.”
Other celebrities who contributed farewell videos to Cena include tonight show host jimmy fallon and hip hop legend snoop dogg.

Cena competed in the Royal Rumble in January and won the Men’s Steel Cage Championship the next month, thus beginning his retirement journey. At WrestleMania 41 in April, Cena got some help from the rapper travis scott Undisputed WWE Championship Cody Rhodes.
Cena eventually lost the title to Rhodes in a Street Fight at SummerSlam in August, and then went on to fight with the likes of Brock Lesnar, AJ Styles and Dominic Mysterio before the final game against Gunther on Saturday.

“It was strange, there was a lot of skepticism because it had never been done before,” he explained on Wednesday, December 10. “I just want people to take this seriously because on the 13th — the reason I want to give people so much preparation time — is to be able to perform for twenty years and people allow me to come into their living rooms week after week, 52 weeks a year, with no replays, and you do feel connected to people. … I want people to understand so that people can deal with whatever closure they want on the 13th.”
Cena began wrestling in 1999 and signed with WWE two years later. After one year with Ohio Valley Wrestling in the WWE Development League, he won his first championship WWE SmackDown On June 27, 2002, participated in a competition with former Olympians Kurt Angle.
Nicknamed “Dr. Mob Economics,” Cena parlayed his success in WWE into a mainstream film career, starring in films such as “Suicide Squad”, “F9: Fast and Legend” and blocker. Cena also currently appears in the hit HBO Max streaming series Peacemaker.
