Perez Hilton Telling why he was hospitalized After recent photos attract attention about his health.
“My stupidity put me in the hospital for 21 days and this is the most important video I’ve ever shared,” Hilton, 48, began on Monday, March 23. Youtube video. “It was the worst and best thing that’s ever happened to me.”
Hilton explains he had flu for ‘about a week’ before he was hospitalized and take medication. However, Hilton noted that he “did not take any medications with food,” and as a result he developed ulcers, perforations and sepsis.
“People died from sepsis,” Hilton said through tears. “The day before I was admitted to the hospital, I had a really bad stomachache. I thought, ‘This is weird, but it’s going to go away.’ The next morning, I couldn’t walk. I had to be taken to the hospital in an ambulance.”
Hilton said he was “extremely grateful” for the care he received at the hospital, noting he spent 21 days there and left the hospital feeling like he knew “everyone.” He recalled undergoing several tests in the first few days because doctors allegedly “couldn’t find” where the perforation was.
“Eventually, five days later, I had laparoscopic surgery,” he said. “They don’t cut you open during surgery, but they miraculously make these incisions… actually turning over all my organs, first trying to find the perforation, and then after turning over all my organs, cleaning me out because I had too many infections there. Too many infections.”

Hilton had fluid in his lungs that had to be drained and he also underwent “another major surgery.” Hilton said that despite doctors expelling “significant amounts of infection,” “the sepsis continues to spread.”
“My body just kept falling apart,” he added, noting that his heart was “out of control.”
He later developed another infection in the hospital, which Hilton said is “very common.” After two weeks, Hilton was receiving food through an IV. When he was able to start eating, Hilton said it was “hard on the body.” He became emotional as he recalled the incident in bed and asked the nurse for help.
“It was a very slow process. I mean, I was just sick for two weeks and then another week before I got out. The last week was just hell because I had been in the hospital for two weeks by then. I was like, ‘I just want to go home. I just want to be with my kids,'” Hilton said before sharing how grateful he was for his doctors.
“One of the hardest things was when they put this NG When the tube was inserted into me. This huge tube that goes from your nose to your stomach, sucking out the bile, I had it for several days, not once, but twice in the first week… I also had a catheter, which they put a balloon in your bladder. . So it was intense. I was in bed for so long and everything was so swollen that I obviously lost a lot of weight and I wasn’t 100 percent anymore,” Hilton continued, pointing to the PICC inserted into his arm. line.
Hilton is now receiving intravenous therapy, which is “much more effective than medication.” He explained that he had no intention of returning to the hospital, calling this a “one and done” situation. Hilton also said he plans to change his daily habits, including getting more sleep at night and having dinner with his kids and mom.
“I have to thank my sister for everything. My sister is my angel. I honestly believe that without my sister, I would probably be dead,” he said, becoming emotional. “My sister lives in Los Angeles, but she flies here twice and is here most of the time, even though she has a young daughter and a husband who lives in Los Angeles.”
