OpenAI has delayed the launch of “adult mode,” a feature of ChatGPT that will allow verified adult users to be attracted to other adults.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman first announced the news in Octoberwrote, “In December, when we begin to encourage people to age adequately and as part of the policy of ‘treating adults like adults,’ we will allow more, such as the attraction of adults.”
The installation was already there one delay, from December — when Altman reportedly sent an internal memo announcing a “code red” and calling for teams to look into the ChatGPT incident — to the first quarter of this year.
Now An OpenAI spokesperson told Axios that the company is “pushing the introduction of senior citizens” to “focus on the work that is the most important priority for many users right now,” such as working on things like intelligence, personality, and making the chatbot “sustainable.”
“We still believe in the principle of treating adults like adults, but getting it right will take time,” the spokesman said.
