OpenAI is looking for a new Programming Theme


OpenAI is looking to hire a new chief executive responsible for assessing emerging risks related to AI in areas ranging from computer security to mental health.

In post on XCEO Sam Altman admitted that AI models are “starting to show real problems,” including “the possible effects of models on mental health,” and models that are “excellent in computer security and are starting to find problems.”

“If you want to help the world figure out how to support highly skilled cybersecurity defenders while ensuring that attackers can’t use them for harm, by creating all-around security systems, and how we unlock the inherent potential and confidence in the security of self-healing systems, please consider applying,” Altman wrote.

It’s OpenAI Register for the Head of Planning position describes the work as the one responsible for the preparation of the company, “our process that explains the OpenAI approach to follow and prepare for border skills that create new harmful threats.”

The share price is listed as $555,000 plus equity.

The company first announced the creation of a planning team in 2023, saying it will be responsible for investigating potential “threats”, whether immediate, such as fraud threats, or hypothetical, such as nuclear threats.

Within a year, OpenAI also awarded the Editor-in-Chief to Aleksander Madry to work focused on AI reasoning. Other security managers at OpenAI also he left the company or taking on new responsibilities outside of planning and security.

The company recently has updated its Preparedness Frameworksaying it could “change” its security requirements if a competing AI lab produces a “highly dangerous” model without the same security measures.

As Altman pointed out in his post, AI chatbots have faced scrutiny over mental health issues. Recent cases they claim that OpenAI’s ChatGPT reinforces user fraud, increases isolation, and even drives others to commit suicide. (The company said it continues to improve ChatGPT’s ability to detect symptoms of depression and connect users to real-world support.)
