OpenAI introduces a way for businesses to build and manage AI agents

OpenAI has launched a new product to help businesses navigate the world of AI agents, focusing on agent management as a key foundation for businesses to adopt AI.

On Thursday, AI giant OpenAI announced the launch of the OpenAI FrontierAn end-to-end platform designed for businesses to build and manage AI agents. It’s an open platform, which means users can manage agents built outside of OpenAI as well.

Frontier users can program AI assistants to integrate with external data and software, allowing them to work remotely with the OpenAI platform. Users can also limit and control what these agents have, and what they can do, of course.

OpenAI said Frontier was designed to work the way companies manage human services. Frontier offers an onboarding system for agents and a transition system designed to help them change over time just as a review can help an employee.

OpenAI has engaged businesses, including HP, Oracle, State Farm, and Uber as customers, but Frontier is currently available to a limited number of users with plans to roll out more in the coming months.

The company did not disclose pricing information in a press release earlier this week, according to report from The Verge. OpenAI declined to comment on pricing.

Agent management products are on the table since AI assistants become popular in 2024. Agentforcewhich the company launched in the fall of 2024. Others will soon follow.
