“In February 2023, in an effort to be proactive about my health, I took a genetic test to check for 90 different cancer genes,” Munn wrote on Instagram at the time. “All my tests came back negative, including BRCA (the most famous cancer gene). My sister Sara (Potts) just tested negative. We called each other and gave each other high fives over the phone. I also had a normal mammogram that winter.”

Two months after the negative results, Moon tested positive for cancer and subsequently underwent treatment.

“Surprisingly, I only cried twice,” she added. “I guess I haven’t felt like I had time to cry yet. My focus has narrowed and I’ve pushed aside any emotion that I think would interfere with my ability to stay awake.”

Munn’s treatment included multiple surgeries, including a double mastectomy, lymph node dissection, reconstructive surgery, nipple delay surgery, oophorectomy and partial hysterectomy.

Although she considered quitting acting, Moon said that, in addition to her husband’s support, getting back in front of the camera actually aided her recovery.
