Nintendo is suing the US government to recover the costs

Nintendo file a a case against the US government on Friday over its removal of tariffs on international businesses. The sports giant wants to refund every job it paid because of President Donald Trump’s executive order that invokes the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).

The lawsuit, which has been filed in the United States Commerce Court, comes after the Supreme Court’s ruling struck down the president’s tax cuts under the IEEPA, saying they exceeded his authority. More than a thousand some companies have already filed for refunds; according to Nintendo’s complaint, seen by TechCrunch, these tariffs have resulted in a loss of $200 billion in exports.

“We can confirm that we have submitted the request,” Nintendo told TechCrunch in a statement. “We have nothing to share on this topic.”

In response to the Supreme Court decision – which he called “very anti-American” – President Trump they raised the prices 10% to 15%. Now, 24 states have filed a lawsuit saying the president once again overstepped the bounds of his authority in making the change.
