Former NFL tight end Greg Olson Announced the death of my brother, chrisa poignant post on social media.
“It is with great sadness that I share this latest news. Despite his best efforts to fight glioblastoma, my brother Chris lost the battle,” Greg, 40, shared. via Instagram Thursday, February 5th. “This terrible disease takes away so much, but it can never take away Chris’ spirit.”
Glioblastoma is an aggressive cancer that starts as cell growth in the brain or spinal cord.
“People have come to Little Rock from all over the country over the past few weeks to share Chris’ story,” Gregg wrote. “We laughed. We cried. We remembered an extraordinary man who made his love felt to everyone. More importantly, he was able to feel the love and impact he had on countless people over 42 years.”

Greg and Chris played quarterback at the University of Virginia and have a younger brother, KevinThe 31-year-old played quarterback at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Greg spent 14 seasons in the NFL with the Chicago Bears, Carolina Panthers and Seattle Seahawks and currently serves as an analyst for Fox Sports. Chris received condolences from the rugby community after his death was announced.

Chris attended the University of Notre Dame before transferring to Virginia in 2003. Matt Schaub and Margrave Hagens Chriss was named the starting quarterback during his senior season in 2006 for three consecutive seasons.

“My dad made that distinction for us,” Chris said. “He was always tougher on Greg and myself than he was on anyone else on the team. He didn’t want it to look like he was trying to favor any one of us. We always had to be a lot better than the guy in front of us. If we were tied, he was playing against the other guy, so we had to be better. We know why he was tougher on us, but it was tough sometimes. It made us better as a team in the long run.”
