Netflix’s ‘Frankenstein’ has won three Oscars, ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ has won two


Two Netflix shows, “Frankenstein” and “KPop Demon Hunters,” won multiple Academy Awards tonight.

Director Guillermo del Toro’s reimagined “Frankenstein” won for Best Production Design, Best Costume Design, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, while Netflix’s most watched movie “KPop Demon Hunters” won for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song.

In recent years, films produced and distributed by advertising companies have been present at the Oscars, and “Roma,” “The Power of the Dog,” is “All Quiet on the Western Front” win big prizes. However, the biggest prize seems to be unavailable to Netflix – Apple’s “CODA”, which was released close to the pandemic, is still available. the only promotional film to win Best Picture.

Host Conan O’Brien noted the presence of Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos earlier in the event, joking, “This is fun: This is his first time acting!”

“Frankenstein” was nominated for nine Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor. Netflix’s “Train Dreams” and Apple’s “F1” (which won for Best Sound) were also nominated for Best Picture.
