It was another historic night for this team curry family in the NBA, but on Thursday, March 19th, Dale CurryIt’s time to shine.
father of golden state warriors superstar Stephen Curry His No. 30 jersey was retired by the Charlotte Hornets in a ceremony that was so touching that it brought tears to his eyes.
“I can’t thank them enough for that. I’m just a country boy from the Grotto,” Dyer, 61, told the Spectrum Center crowd. “I had no idea this was going to happen. I just played basketball because I loved it and now my jersey is up in (these) rafters Bobby (Phils)I can’t explain how grateful, blessed and lucky I am at this moment. “
He added, “I want to thank all the fans. You threw your arms around me when I was a 24-year-old kid. You have supported me and my family ever since.”
Dell played 10 seasons for the Hornets from 1989 to 1998 and won Sixth Man of the Year honors in 1994. He has been a member of the Hornets’ broadcast team since 2009.

Stephen further reflects on his father’s legacy in a story charlotte observerpublished Thursday.
“We call him ‘The Founder,'” he said. “Because of all this — all of us and our basketball family tree? It started with him. A friend of ours gave him that nickname on a golf trip about ten years ago. So that’s what we use now.”
Stephen also said he expected Dale to cry during the ceremony.
“He’s not a crybaby,” he said. “But if there was a moment, this was it. If there was a prop bet, I’d go with ‘yes.'” You know, that’s his life, on and off the field, for one night. So I bet. “
Seth agreed, saying, “It’s definitely going to be exciting because most of his family is at home and some of his old teammates are as well.”
