The 33-year-old “Slide Away” singer took the stage at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles on Thursday, March 26, to accept the honor.
Cyrus reflects on celebrating 20th anniversary in speech Hannah Montana, Describing this milestone as a “dream come true”.
“Thank you for my double denim and gold scarf because they’ve been waiting over a decade to leave home,” she joked.
Cyrus went on to praise Hannah Montana for influencing her real life, explaining that the character “has been a huge inspiration to me in my own career.”
“I fell in love with the idea that you can create a character that gives you the confidence and courage to be authentic, and sometimes who you pretend to be can actually reveal who you really are,” she said.
Cyrus also reflected on what the concept of innovation has meant to her throughout her career.
“For me, innovation is not about leaving behind those who have been left behind, but about making the journey fun,” she said. “I’ve always written songs and told stories because I love it, and it’s certainly worthwhile to win awards for that work, but that’s not my compass because if it was, I’m sure I would end up very lost.”
She added: “When the victory is not recognition, but creating art that touches the hearts of people I may never have met, it brings me a profound joy. Young me is honored to share this moment with you. I am proud to stand here and tell you how much you mean to me.”

Past recipients include taylor swift, beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, justin timberlake, Pharrell Williams, Alicia Keys, rapper chance and U2.
In addition to the Innovator Award, Cyrus won the 2014 Best Lyrics Award for “Wrecking Ball” and the 2024 Pop Song of the Year Award for “Flowers”, as well as two iHeartRadio Music Awards.
Cyrus’ latest honor comes just days after she received 20th anniversary Hannah MontanaPremiere The Disney+ special launches on Tuesday, March 24th.

Cyrus spoke at a screening of the special, reflecting on her big break as Hannah Montana.
“Everything in my life has been so amazing because Disney gave me a chance,” she said. “There was no reason for me to come to L.A. and think I could host a show or pretend to be a pop star. I had no experience. I’d done some theater before. … There were a few years where I thought they made the right decision. I think it all worked out well because whatever brought us to this room to commemorate and celebrate — not just the show itself — was what started all of this. It’s amazing that the cast is here tonight. Without you, this show would never be what it is.”
She continued, “I’m probably the only person in this room who has never been to a Hannah Montana concert (because) I am a Hannah Montana concert. But now I understand why it’s so fun to go to a Hannah Montana show and dress like her, with a wig and a scarf. That’s how I feel about celebrating Hannah Montana — now from the other side.”
