Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino There’s news for him jersey shore supporting role Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi during her recent cancer diagnosis.
“Sending prayers of love, uplift and healing to our girl @snooki,” Sorrentino, 43, via X Sunday, February 22, alongside a bandaged heart emoji and a throwback photo of Snooki, 38.
Snooki announced via TikTok on Friday, February 20, that she received Stage I Cervical Cancer Diagnosis.
“Obviously this is not the news I was hoping for,” Snooki said after sharing that she recently had a biopsy. “But it’s not the worst news, just because they figured it out early.”
Snooki encourages her followers Have a Pap smear test every year, That’s how the reality star learned she had cancer cells on her cervix.
“That’s why I’m telling you to get a Pap smear. I’m 38 years old. I’ve been battling an abnormal Pap smear for about three or four years now,” she said. “Look at me now, instead of just putting it off because I didn’t want to go, it hurt and I was scared, no, I just did it, (and) the cancer was there and it was just stage one and it was curable.”
Snooki explained that she underwent a colposcopy — a test for “abnormal tissue,” according to the Mayo Clinic — and “a large chunk was removed from (her) cervix.” She then underwent a cone biopsy, which the Mayo Clinic defines as a procedure in which “the surgeon removes a cone-shaped wedge of abnormal tissue from the cervix.”
The biopsy found clear margins around the tumor and that it had not spread beyond her cervix, but Snooki noted that it was possible the cancer had spread throughout her body because this type is typically “more aggressive.” Snooki revealed that she plans to have a PET scan to find out if there is cancer elsewhere in her body.
“After that, I will probably have a hysterectomy because the oncologist said you can have chemotherapy, radiation or a hysterectomy,” she continued. “Obviously, I think the smart choice is a hysterectomy. I’ll still have my ovaries, which is a good sign, but a hysterectomy has to put the cervix in, the uterus out, and then probably the lymph nodes because it can (spread there). So I guess it all depends on the PET scan.”
Even though the year “didn’t go the way she hoped,” Snooki shared her positive outlook.
“It could be a lot worse,” she said, while asking fans to comment on the video if they’ve experienced something similar.
Snooki— who shares children Lorenzo, 13, Giovanna, 11, and Angelo, 6, with their husbands Jonny LaValle – also pledged to stay “vulnerable” on social media while sharing updates on her health journey.
On Sunday, Snooki shared a solo Tik Tok In the video, she showed her support by showing a heart with her hands and saying “I love you.”
“Seeing all the love you guys show me means the world to me,” she captioned the post, “Thank you for always being my best friend 😭🙏🏽💕.”
