Mexico City holds large-scale football training match to break Guinness record

The Guinness World Record for the largest football class was broken on Sunday as huge crowds filled Mexico City’s Zocalo Plaza.

The city’s main square was turned into an open-air training ground, and 9,500 people conducted football training under the guidance of coaches.

Organizers said the attendance exceeded the previous Guinness World Record set in Seattle in June 2025, when more than 1,000 participants attended a soccer class.

The attempt comes as the country prepares to host the World Cup opener in June.
