Meta released an AI version on Wednesday called Muse Sparkwhich marks its “first step” to “renewing (its) AI efforts.”
Muse Spark is the first model to come out of Meta Superintelligence Labs, which was created last year because CEO Mark Zuckerberg says. unhappy with progress of Meta and its Llama models is how it lagged behind OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Anthropic’s Claude. Meta hired former Scale AI co-founder and CEO Alexandr Wang to lead Meta Superintelligence Labs and invested $14.3 billion in the data mining company for a 49% stake.
Now, it’s time for Zuckerberg to see if his revamped AI team can attract users.
Muse Spark, which is now available online and in the Meta AI app, is expected to change over time. The company plans to implement the “Imagination” method, which allows to solve the most difficult problems. The Meta model uses multiple AI assistants simultaneously to work on the same problem, which it says will produce faster results in its Inference process.
“In order to use the test time without overloading, we can increase the number of agents that work together to solve complex problems,” the company wrote.
Meta’s competitors have previously posted these masterpieces behind a paywall. It is unclear if Meta will follow the same path.
The company jumped on the AI bandwagon, however. Meta said in his post that Muse Spark could be used to help users with health questions, something competitors are also active.

Meta’s push to be healthy — and the critical work of getting into Muse Spark — may raise privacy concerns. Muse Spark users will need to sign in with an existing Meta account such as Facebook or Instagram to use it. Meta does not explicitly state that personal information about Facebook or Instagram will be used by AI. But it’s possible, considering that Meta often educates about users and the company positioned Muse Spark as a smart product.
Meta noted that Muse Spark excels with visual STEM questions that can lead to “interactive experiences like creating fun mini-games or tinkering with your home appliances.”
Apart from investing in Scale AI and hiring Wang, Zuckerberg’s company said employed researchers from OpenAIAnthropic, and Google. The bottom line: If Meta is going to be a true competitor in the AI industry, it’s now or never.
“Looking ahead, we want to release more advanced models that push the boundaries of intelligence and capabilities, including new open source models,” Zuckerberg said. Thread. “We’re creating things that don’t just answer your questions but act as assistants that do things for you.”
