Meta is cutting hundreds of jobs


Meta is laying off several hundred employees in several departments, including sales, recruiting, and the Reality Labs division, as reported. The Information and Bloomberg.

The reduction will affect employees in the US and other international markets. Some of these employees will be offered other jobs or the opportunity to relocate to remain with the company, Bloomberg reported.

“Meta’s teams are constantly updating or making changes to ensure they are in the best position to achieve their goals,” a Meta spokesperson said in an email to TechCrunch. “If possible, we are finding other opportunities for employees whose positions may be affected.”

The cuts will affect fewer than 1,000 employees. Meta employs about 79,000 people by the end of 2025.

The move comes as Meta invests billions of dollars in AI. The company hopes to reach a profile level of capital this year, between $115 billion and $135 billion.

The layoffs also mark the second time Meta has reduced its workforce in 2026. In January, Meta. fired 10% of its employees in Reality Labs divisions. The New York Times he said the cuts affected about 1,000 employees, out of about 15,000 employees in Reality Labs.
