Meet the women protecting India’s snow leopards

On survey days, the women would rise early, complete household chores and gather at base camp before traveling by vehicle as far as the terrain allowed. From there, they trekked many kilometers to filming locations, often at altitudes above 14,000 feet (4,300 m), where the thin air made even simple exercise exhausting.
