The Carradine family confirmed Robert’s death in a statement deadline on Monday.
“It is with profound sadness that we must share that our beloved father, grandfather, uncle and brother Robert Carradine has passed away,” Carradine’s family said. “In a world that feels so dark, Bobby has always been a beacon of light to everyone around him. We are devastated by the loss of this beautiful soul and are grateful for Bobby’s heroic fight during his nearly two-year battle with bipolar disorder. We hope his journey can shine a light on people and encourage addressing the stigma associated with mental illness. At this time, we ask for privacy to mourn this unfathomable loss. Thank you for your understanding and compassion.”
Plimpton’s father Keith, 76, spoke of Robert’s battle with bipolar disorder in a statement to Deadline.
“We want people to know this, there’s nothing shameful about it,” Keith said. “This was a disease that got the best out of him, and I want to celebrate his battle with it and celebrate his beautiful soul. He was so gifted and we will miss him every day. We take comfort in how funny he was and how wise and completely accepting and tolerant he was. That was my little brother.”
