YouTube TV has been gradually expanding its multi-viewer feature over the past few years, which initially allowed sports fans to watch up to four channels simultaneously on a single screen. Soon, viewers will have the opportunity to watch whatever they choose.
In him annual newsletter published on Wednesday, the CEO of YouTube, Neal Mohan, revealed that the platform will soon introduce “customizable features”. This upgrade aims to provide more customization by allowing viewers to create their own interface, customizing their viewing experience to suit their interests in sports, news, entertainment, and more.
YouTube TV first he rolled over multi-sport mode in 2023, allowing fans to watch multiple games at once. Part then it was expanded including other categories, such as news and weather, although it was previously restricted to select channels, including CNN, MSNBC, HGTV, and the Food Network. After that, YouTube TV began testing a way for a small group of users to customize what they want to watch together without restrictions.
This new capability is expected to appeal to families and large families who like to watch different shows, as it allows different genres to be watched together on one screen.
To test multiview, press the button on the bottom of your remote, then look for the Multiview icon or the “Watch Multiview” option, and select it. From there, you can take three additional steps to add to your screen.
Additionally, Mohan highlighted the upcoming launch of YouTube TV channel package of its kinddesigned to give subscribers more flexibility in what they pay for. For example, viewers can choose specific programs about sports, news, family programs, or entertainment, tailoring their subscription to their preferences and saving money.
However, YouTube TV did not share details about the packages, such as how much they will cost or when they will launch. We can expect more to be announced in the coming months as the platform prepares for release.
