Maddie Prewett and Grant Trout Their love connection was almost missed.
Her episode on Wednesday, February 18 “Keeping It Real” PodcastWhile chatting with Trout, 29, Prewett, 29, opened up about who she really should have dated back then. She revealed that her family friends initially tried to set her up with the wrong Trout brothers.
“We had a family friend try to set me up—” Prewett said before Trout could finish his sentence, interjecting, “And my brother!”
“By the way, you and my mom talked about launching your book in our house,” Trout recalled. “(The odds)? It’s crazy. You’re looking for a place to put your book down.” Prewett said, adding that she “had just moved to California” at the time. “We had mutual friends. They were the ones who connected me to your mom because the Trouts would sometimes have events at their house.”
She continued, “Your mom and I talked for about an hour. I thought, ‘This woman is amazing. We’re on the same page. She loves the truth… I think I actually texted her and said, ‘We should get coffee.'” I don’t think she texted me back. ” Trout laughed and pointed out that this “amazing woman” is now Prewett’s mother-in-law.
“It was a great conversation,” Prewett gushed. “Then I knew, (my friend said) Trout had a son. You guys should connect. Preston Trout. So the only thing I knew about the Trout family was Lisa and Preston Trout. “
Grant then joked that God was “hiding (him)” from Prewett and “preparing” him to meet his “wife.”
Prewett explained that “it didn’t go anywhere with Preston” and the two “didn’t even text” (or) “go on a date.”
The Bachelor Nation star recalled finding out she was set up on a blind date with Grant, which was the first time she learned there was another Trout family member.
“I’ve seen you once in church so far,” Grant gushed. “I fell to my knees – not really – but I was like, ‘Who is this woman? I want her to be my wife.'”
Six months later, Grant returned from his trip and reconnected with Prewett on their date It was an instant hit.
Elsewhere in the episode, Prewett opened up about their dating life together, calling it “not perfect.”
“That’s not the case,” Grant agreed.
“I think we did some things well and some things we didn’t do well. Now we can share some things,” Prewett explained.

Looking back, Trout wishes they could “slow down emotionally” and talk about their future.
Grant also revealed that he was very nervous about asking Prewett out until a friend convinced him to do so.
Prewett and Grant tied the knot in 2022. After two years of marriage, the couple announced they were married via Instagram expecting their first child Together.. In January 2025, Prewett gave birth to daughter Hosanna Rose.
