Katy Perry posts photo with Justin Trudeau in Japan

Katy Perry and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau have gone Instagram official after they posted a series of photos and videos from their trip to Japan.

Neither Perry nor Trudeau have publicly commented on their relationship. But speculation has been growing for months about multiple photos of the pair together.

Trudeau was seen attending Perry’s concert earlier this year, sparking rumors of a romance with the pop star.

Perry’s visit to Japan is part of her global tour of a lifetime.

The 41-year-old captioned her Instagram carousel: “Tokyo Times tour and more.”

Earlier this week, Trudeau, 53, also retweeted a photo of the pair with former Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and his wife Yuko.

The pair appeared to confirm their relationship last month when they were photographed holding hands at an event in Paris.

Celebrity news site TMZ posted photos and video footage of the pair walking hand-in-hand before getting into a car. Trudeau helped the singer into the back seat as photographers shouted.

The Paris appearance coincides with Perry’s 41st birthday and appears to mark their first public appearance as a couple.

Perry and Trudeau did not immediately respond to the BBC’s request for comment.

Perry did seem to address her relationship status during a recent trip to London.

“I wish you proposed to me 48 hours ago,” the singer joked after a fan proposed to her during her performance, just days after photos of her and Trudeau were first posted online.

Perry was previously in a long-term relationship with actor Orlando Bloom. The couple had been together for ten years and had a daughter together, but separated over the summer.

Trudeau, who served as Canada’s Prime Minister from 2015 to 2025, was previously married to Sophie Grégoire for 18 years before the two separated in the summer of 2023. They have three children.
