jamie lynn spears is marking the anniversary of her daughter Maddie’s near-fatal ATV accident.
“Miracle Anniversary 🪽🤍,” Spears, 34, via Instagram Thursday, February 5th. “I will never take for granted the gifts we receive because I know full well that many times that is not the case.”
She continued, “Thank you to every first responder, medical professional, friend, family, everyone who prayed for her and most of all thank you to God 🙏🏻 Love you more today, at the end of the day that’s all that really matters.”
Spears also shared a series of photos from Maddie’s hospital stay, including one of the two in bed together and another of her sleeping next to her daughter. (Spears shares Maddie, 17, with ex-boyfriend Kathy Aldridge. She is also a mother 7-year-old daughter Ivywhich she shares with her husband Jamie Watson.)
In February 2017, McGrady was riding an all-terrain vehicle when it flipped over into a pond. She was knocked unconscious and submerged underwater for several minutes before being airlifted to a local hospital for treatment.
“I did have an accident, though. I was in a coma and I came out of it, and I was lucky,” McGrady recalled in an August 2025 YouTube video. “I’m just accident-prone. I swear my parents are great and they didn’t do anything to me.”

“I will never forget this because my whole world stopped that day,” she wrote via Instagram in February 2020. “It started like most Sundays, going to church, visiting family, and then suddenly trying to save my daughter’s life, they took her away and we believed we had lost her forever and it literally felt like the world stopped around me.”
Spears continued, “I have never gone into detail about that day and the events that followed, but what I will share is that God blessed us with a true miracle. Not only is Maddie with us, but she has made a full recovery. I know so many of you prayed so hard for us, so I will never let this day go by without thanking each and every one of you for every prayer you have prayed for us.”

In 2024, Spears gave a sweet shout-out to the pastor who supported Maddie after her accident as she recalled the day.
“As each year passes and I watch my daughter grow, I realize more and more how blessed we are and never want to take it for granted,” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “Thank you again to all the health care professionals who made life-saving decisions and thank you to everyone who prayed for our baby girl.”
“Thinking of Father Mark today, even though he is in heaven now, he has always been like an angel on earth to us, especially seven years ago today,” she concluded.
Nearly nine years after near-fatal incident, Tracy McGrady Received a new ATV for Christmas.
“Merry Christmas ✝️🤶🏻🎀🎄🎁,” Spears captioned several holiday photos from December 2025, one of which showed a cherry red 4×4 parked in a garage with a red bow and a card that read “Maddie!” In another video, Maddie and Ivy were seen riding on an ATV.
