J. Smith Cameronkiller character Elsbeth Might look a bit familiar – at least to viewers who are fans of the ex Fashion Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour.
“It was my idea,” Smith-Cameron said exclusively US Weekly. “I was like, ‘What if I don’t want to be Anna Wintour, but this woman wants to be like Anna Wintour?’ That’s her hero and she’s going to try to emulate her.”
Smith-Cameron broke the horizon Of the character, he added, “She’s hiding behind a mask. I thought it might be funny. I just went online and bought a cheap wig, a flower-boy bob style, and it looked OK in my head. So I went with that. And I wasn’t trying to be completely British. I wanted to sound like someone who was trying to sound a little bit British.”
Before using Wintour as inspiration, smith cameron in real life A run-in with a fashion icon.
“I went to a fashion show one time and I met Anna Wintour, and she ended up sitting next to me. She was wearing sunglasses, and her fame preceded her,” she recalled. “But she’s very personable. She’s lovely. That’s not my impression of her. It’s just someone who’s obsessed with her, which I can understand. Everyone I know is obsessed with Anna Wintour because she’s a very, very charming person.”

“It’s the kind of show that gives you some backstory. It’s a fun show because it’s a murder mystery show in a way. But it’s a fun and light-hearted presentation,” she continued. “I just thought it was interesting. The characters in ‘Elsbeth’ are going through very extreme times. You can relate to them and the way the story is written and handled.”
Elsbeth Airs Thursday at 10pm ET on CBS. New episodes will air on Paramount+ the following day.
