Iranian state TV announces moment supreme leader was killed

Iranian state media confirmed that Israel and the United States began launching attacks across Iran on Saturday morning local time, and that Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had been killed.

Iranian state television confirmed Khamenei’s death after reading a statement from Iran’s Supreme National Security Council.

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump said Khamenei had been killed and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced “a powerful surprise attack” on Khamenei’s Tehran residence.
