Intel is building a mobile gaming platform including a dedicated chip

Intel wants to double down on gaming hardware with a new chip and platform for portable gaming devices.

The platform will combine hardware and software, Intel’s vice president and general manager of PC products, Daniel Rogers, announced at CES on Monday. It will be built with the company’s Intel Core Series 3 processors, known as Panther Lake, which were announced last year and are now being released in various PCs.

This future platform includes a chip especially for mobile gaming devices, according to report from IGNwhich was confirmed by TechCrunch.

The Panther Lake chips are the company’s first to be built 18A production, which began production in 2025.

Intel is no stranger to the gaming industry and has been making PC chips since the 1990s. The company leaned heavily on the game in 2022 with its release Intel Arc GPUs.

Entering the mobile gaming space could be interesting, however, as the market is dominated by AMD. AMD has just announced a new processor designed for gaming PCs, AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3Din his keynote speech at CES on Monday, in addition to new ray technologies and gaming graphics.

Rogers said Intel will share more information about new mobile gaming products later this year.
