Instagram may allow you to remove someone from your Close Friends list

Instagram is developing a feature that allows users to remove themselves from their “Close Friends” list, Meta told TechCrunch on Friday. The company says the feature is still in its early stages and is not yet publicly tested.

Social networks a My best friends The feature allows users to share Stories, Reels, and articles with a select group of people, instead of all their followers. Since the introduction of this feature in 2018, users have not been able to remove themselves from someone’s Close Friends list.

The interior model was first seen by the revolutionary engineer Alessandro Paluzziwho searches for unreleased items while preparing.

According to the screenshot shared by Paluzzi, Meta will warn users that if they leave their Close Friends list, they won’t be able to see their Close Friends content unless the person adds them back to their list.

While some people will undoubtedly be upset if others leave their Close Friends list, the feature may be welcome for those who don’t want to be included on other people’s lists.

It is worth noting that Snapchat, one of Instagram’s competitors, already allows users to remove themselves in the case of someone else’s privacy – a similar thing.

As with any internal model, it is unclear when or if Instagram plans to release the feature publicly.

Beyond the Close Friends update, Instagram is also working on some new features. Meta told TechCrunch earlier this week that they are planning to test new subscriptions which gives people access to exclusive content on Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp.

Although Meta didn’t elaborate on what the subscription will include, Paluzzi shared that Instagram’s online subscription will allow users to create unlimited playlists, see unfollowed followers, and view Stories without the post’s knowledge.

Meta said the goal of the upcoming subscription is to give users access to exclusive features and control over how they share and interact, while keeping the experience free. The company doesn’t seem to be stuck in one direction, as it plans to test different subscription products and bundles and subscribe to each program that offers unique features.
