Brielle “Brie” Byrd Passed away at age 9 after battling stage 4 cancer.
bird’s mother, Kendra Byrdby announcing the news Instagram Friday, December 12th. Her daughter had died the day before.
“You are a miracle!” Kendra wrote alongside a photo of her daughter smiling. “Your purpose on earth has been fulfilled, and it is the most sacred privilege to escort you home. You have led people to Christ, you have shown the goodness of God to the world, and your light shines to every corner of the earth. We love you forever!”
She continued, “We will look for you in all the details, especially Dragonfly’s. We will never stop sharing your stories. Please come visit us often. Your bedroom door is always open and we will leave the playroom lights on.”
Finally, Kendra wrote, “You did it Brielle, you did everything with grace! I can only imagine the incredible reunion and I’m so jealous; but I know you went straight to Jesus. 😭.”
“Thank you,” she added, “for being an inspiration to so many people.”
Shortly after Kendra posted the news, fans of her and Brie’s @briestrongerthancancer account took to the comments section to express their condolences.
“Oh! It took my breath away. I was just standing in the kitchen, sad and grateful and in awe,” Viola Davis commented. “What a life force…anointed beauty…a elixir that reminds us of love. Angels are taking her home. Praying for you and your family…always. Thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️.”
Brie was diagnosed with neuroblastoma cancer in 2020 and was admitted to hospice earlier this year. “She mentioned, ‘Even though she’s moving forward and trying her best to squeeze everything out of life, she’s still fighting for her happiness,'” Kendra wrote on Jones, 47, on Instagram. “I’m constantly asked, ‘How are you?’ It becomes a question that not only I don’t know how to answer, but I feel like I’m totally lying if I answer with just one word. I know people know our story, and when I think about what they know, and how broken I really am, I can no longer bring myself to say ‘hang in there.’ I’m broken, heartbroken. I’m going to answer now, ‘I’m fighting for my joy.'”

One morning, as I was sitting on the edge of Brielle’s bed, she rolled over and said, ‘Someone spoke to me in heaven, an old man, I don’t know if it was grandma or grandpa; they said my name.'” I of course stood up to her and asked her what else the angels were saying to her. She couldn’t keep her eyes open for long, but she assured me she would let me know what else they said. “
