Hate jump scares? The app warns you before it happens

A new program for watching movies and TV, Eatingfrom the indie developer behind other creative apps like social app Mammoth, and AI Bulletin news readerit has a clever side: It will warn you when a jump scare is coming.

To do this, the app takes advantage of Apple’s Live Activities – a feature that brings real-time notifications to the Lock Screen and Dynamic Island. You’ve seen other activity tracking apps use this feature to track things like food delivery, Uber arrivals, game traffic, and more. But Binge enters this section to notify when dangerous events are coming.

To use the feature, click the clock icon on the horror information page to start watching the video. You can also filter out the “big” risks if you want.

This app enters the crowded space where other popular apps prefer Letterboxd, TV time, JustWatch, Papersand others you already have a large audience. However, Binge wants to distinguish itself by using Apple’s features, such as Live Activities and iCloud synchronization, as well as presenting a few features that all other programs do not have, such as the ability to add private records, details of what happened after the loan, the time spent on rewards, calculation graphs, integration with other tracking programs, and more.

According to developer Shihab Mehboob, the hope is to make Binge a one-stop app for tracking movies, TV shows, collections, people (like actors), viewers, networks, and even production companies.

Like other streaming apps, you’ll find information about the movies or TV shows you’re following, such as release date, description, previews, actors, reviews, running time, genre, and more.

In addition to adding items to the watch list or tagging them as they appear, you can also easily see where to watch the topic in question – a useful feature when things seem to be moving between services. And you can track movies while they’re still in theaters so you can remember to watch them at home.

In addition, Binge pulls data from external websites, such as statistics from Rotten Tomatoes, Letterboxd, IMDb, and Metacritic, and creates a guide for parents using IMDb’s information about the violence of the movie or the display of violence, sex, extreme events, drug and alcohol use, profanity, etc.

Other features include the ability to watch videos and movies, sync with the Trakt service, browse ideas, see breakdowns of Academy Award winners, create collections, add tags to make sure you have a video, add widgets to Home and Lock Screen, use “add to calendar”, and find tons of ways to customize the interior.

The app is available for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It’s free to download, but requires registration or a one-time payment to unlock features, such as risk warnings. Currently, subscriptions cost $1.99 per month or $17.99 per year, or you can pay a one-time fee of $49.99 to unlock the app’s features forever.
