almost as long as Grammy Awards existed, musicians existed criticizing the voting process, Nominations and winners.
Grammy disses have took many forms Over the years, but in the 21st century, much of the commentary has focused on the awards show’s history of excluding female and black artists from major categories. Since the first awards ceremony in 1959, only 12 black artists have won the Album of the Year trophy.
Critics have also questioned the Grammys’ track record with female artists, especially in the years since previously gender-separated awards were merged into one. While female nominees have done well over the years, category compression has often meant that few or no women are nominated in the rock, R&B and pop categories, even though they are among the most popular musicians in the world.
