Google Play is adding new paid games for PC, game demos, social media, and more


Google Wednesday he announced many game-related changes at Google Play at GDC 2026. The chief technology expert revealed that Google Play is expanding its catalog to include paid games and indie games for PC, starting game tests, introducing “buy once, play every” pricing, releasing a catalog tool, and adding category notes.

These updates show that Google is focusing on turning Google Play into a gaming hub by allowing players to try games before they buy, play on mobile and PC, sync their progress, and connect with the game community, all in one place.

Google says it’s expanding its library to include paid games in the coming months, including Mountains of Moonlight, Sledding Game, 9 Kings, Potion Craft, and Low-Budget Repairs. You can play the game on mobile and desktop through Google Play Games, and connect to your Gamer profile across all devices.

To help users decide to buy games, Google is introducing game testing. If they like the game, they can buy it and continue where they left off during the trial period. Game Trials will soon begin selecting paid games on mobile and will come to Google Play Games on PC in the future, Google says.

In addition, Google Play’s new “Buy once, play anywhere” pricing will give users access to all kinds of mobile and PC games in one purchase. The change is happening in paid games, such as the Reigns series, OTTTD, and Dungeon Clawler.
