Gmail has problems with spam and poor design

If your Gmail account seems to be working fine today, you’re not alone.

The official dashboard of Google Workspace indicates that the issue began around 5am Pacific Saturday morning, when users experienced “malicious emails in their inboxes with additional spam warnings.”

For me, this meant that my Primary inbox was full of messages that usually appeared in the Promotions, Groups, or Updates boxes, and that spam warnings were appearing in emails from known senders.

Some users have complained on social media that “all spam is going to my inbox” and that Gmail filters are visible “suddenly full blast.”

“We are working to resolve this issue,” Google said. “As always, we encourage users to follow best practices when dealing with messages from anonymous senders.”

TechCrunch has reached out to Google for additional comment.
