The world’s best athletes gather in Italy to compete 2026 Winter Olympicsvillages are doing their best to make sure they have all the fuel and food they need to get the gold.
In total, Olympians competing at the 2026 Winter Games are spread across six villages, with the main centers in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo hosting around 1,500 and 1,400 people respectively.

Salvadori said athletes in the Olympic Village have a variety of options but typically opt for plain pasta, basic sauces and protein.
“Of course, they have other gourmet options like lasagna, gnocchi and desserts,” Salvadori said.
There are food halls in the main Olympic Village, with chefs behind each of the six stations. Other stalls offer fruit, bread and salad bars.
Food at the 2026 Olympics will have an Italian flair, with photos inside the food hall showing a variety of pastas and pizzas, as well as items such as grilled cheese smoked scamozza, plain turkey breast and salmon steak.

The Games in Italy are off to a much better start than the 2024 Summer Games in Paris, where the food has received negative reviews from many of the participating athletes.

After the U.S. women’s gymnastics team won gold in the Paris team competition, they were asked about food in their village.
“Well, here’s the thing,” Simone Biles Tell reporters. “I don’t think we eat French food like you do in the village because you’re outside the village. It’s a little healthier for athletes.”
