A man faces charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault after he allegedly confronted and stabbed his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend near a Florida park, according to authorities.
A fierce quarrel broke out between the two parties William Taylor Warren The 39-year-old victim was found near Veterans Memorial Park in The Villages in the Lady Lake community on the evening of Friday, March 7. Lady Lake Police Department said in a press release on Monday, March 9.
Authorities said Warren’s 37-year-old girlfriend was riding in the golf cart with her ex-boyfriend when Warren, 39, arrived in another golf cart and confronted the two, WESH reported.
“I’m going to (expletive) kill you“, Warren told his girlfriend’s ex, according to an arrest report obtained by the station.
Warren and the man then got out of the golf cart and started fighting, the station reported.
Police said Warren stabbed the man, who required treatment for a “life-threatening” stab wound.
After receiving initial treatment at a local hospital, the man was airlifted to UF Health Shands in Gainesville for emergency surgery, according to police. He eventually survived.

The woman later told authorities that Warren was abusive and that she told her ex-boyfriend to visit her from Georgia before coming to Lady Lake, according to an arrest report obtained by WESH. She allegedly wanted her ex-boyfriend to help her leave the home.
The woman, described as “a female acquaintance,” had recently moved to Lady Lake from Georgia with Warren, police said in a news release.
Warren was arrested by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office for his involvement in a near-fatal fight, according to police.
After Warren was booked into the Marion County Jail, police said he “admitted to participating in the incident.”
It’s unclear whether Warren has retained an attorney who could comment on his behalf or whether he entered a plea on Tuesday, March 10.
“This was a violent incident and the victim suffered serious injuries,” Lake Police Supt. Steve Hunter said in a statement. “Our officers and detectives acted quickly to investigate this case and worked with our law enforcement partners to locate the suspect.”
A Florida woman has been arrested after admitting to killing her roommate in a rural Charlotte County community, according to police. The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office said 76-year-old Paul De Wayne Bradley was found dead at his home on Gewant Avenue in Charlotte Ranchettes on the evening of Sunday, March 8.
Hunter told WESH the victim had “serious stab wounds” to his abdomen.
Warren’s girlfriend was also arrested on a warrant out of Georgia, according to police. Authorities did not specify what she was charged with.
As of March 10, it was unclear whether the woman (who was not named in the press release) had legal representation.
